![]() Is there truly a such thing as unconditional love, or is that a notion that we should strictly reserve for our God, our children, and our pets? Yes, unconditional love sounds poetic, and works in theory, but in reality, unconditional love is more optimism than possibility, and not because we can't love beyond action, but because we can't be expected to accept beyond action. Ladies (and gentlemen), if you love, love without reservation, love with an air of vulnerability. But never, and I repeat never, love to the point of stupidity. Loving unconditionally doesn't mean tolerating abuse. Loving unconditionally doesn't equate to our unconditional acceptance of bullshit. So, note that: loving unconditionally was never supposed to include our unconditional presence, just our desire to grasp the unconditional. -Kanika Vann
