I wholeheartedly believe that there are people our Creator brings into our lives to touch us; they steer our direction, motivate us with promise and possibility, and become the matches that spark our need to take flight. As a kid, Maya Angelou's words became my spark and my refuge, and like my love affair with music, continued to give me hope when I was hopeless, love when it was lacking, and calm, when my world seemed chaotic—even now, as an adult. I've dedicated many of my words to this intriguing, powerful, intelligent woman because I respected her adversity and fell in love with her imagery. I shudder, knowing that silence and suffering catapulted her into her greatness, but smile knowing that sounds and stories are what cemented her legacy. Consequently, her words became the catalyst for me to build upon my own greatness. So, I thank you #MayaAngelou; for all you were, and will continue to be; for captivating me, loving me, and investing in me. You've been my greatest literary inspiration, and for that, I am forever grateful. I pray your wings will fit you well. #RIP #PhenomenalWoman
