It's rather unfortunate when those that give us the best memories become memories. Oh, but what a blessing it is to look back and smile, yet have the common sense to remember why they're a part of your past and not your present. #TBT #2014

We're often most frustrated with love and at our unhappiest when we overstay our welcome in relationships. When we try to force connections with people with whom we can't grow, we'll always hit a wall. It's not working because, it no longer works.

First loves receive all of you; the unreserved and unashamed you. They know the first ‪‎version of you. But for as ‪‎beautiful as that first ‪‎love is, lasting love ‪‎ALWAYS proves better. See, there's a ‪piece that only the first one gets, but a ‪‎peace, that only the last one gives. ‪#‎TBT‬ #2013

Relationships have become a chore because we're choosing to love men that we have to raise. Men who are helpless, dependent, and immature. Men who don't cook, don't help, can't fix shit, won't work, and never had to sacrifice because they've always had their mothers, sisters, or women with no expectations and low self-esteem to take care of them. Ladies, ya'll need to get hip. This shit is unacceptable.

Brothers, in 2017, women aren't looking to be saved, nor rescued, nor kept, or coddled; we seek to be respected, loved, appreciated, heard, and seen for what we are and who we are. #GetHip or lose out.

Definition of the day, "Hey Stranger," related to other lame ass phrases such as, "Hey Big Head," "Wyd?," "You was in my dreams last night," and "I know it's late, but you're on my mind." #FuckBoyShit #ChildishGambino #SetUp #NawMsSophia ...ya'll gotta stop making it so easy for guys to come back. One slick ass flirt, and "he in there like swimwear." #BoyBye

Ladies and gentleman, let's be clear: wanting to change and actually changing are a thousand miles a part. What most of us fail to recognize (from the beginning) though, is how large a part discipline, courage and determination actually play in the process. Relationships aren't established because we hope for them. And love isn't found simply because we close our eyes and wish really hard for it. If we want things to be better, we MUST be willing to change them, have our minds set on the need to change them, be brave enough to change them, and persistent enough to follow through once we've made the change. So stop hoping and wishing for things to manifest, and make them happen. Stop whining about how things could be different, "IF ONLY." We control more of our life's outcomes than we'd like to think. Problem is: action is the name of this game--always has been; always will be--but most of us are too afraid, too lazy, or too comfortable to make that change. #GetItTogether #DontBeCruel #BeBetter#ForI #ForUs #ForWe #TBT #2014

When he induces smiles, doesn't lie, asks about your day, spends time with you, eats vegetables, loves dogs, tips the waiter, and isn't afraid to love you. #Lawd!!!

Love??? #LOL!!! What's love got to do with it? #Seriously. You love him, but does he love you? You love him, but who else is he sharing his bed, your bed, or yall's bed with? You love him, but does he respect you? You love him, but does he claim you? Ya'll keep throwing love in the air like confetti and hoping it lands where it's supposed to. But "hoping" and "knowing" are surely not the same, so stop confusing what is, with what we hope it becomes. Our failure to discern and learn is the source of our frustration with relationships; our bitterness, our feelings of defeat, and our inability to recover from our brokenness. #CmonYall; see him for whoever and whatever he is. And while you're focusing, see yourselves in your choices of him and those who came before.

    Author

I, Kanika Vann (writer, author, editor, journalist, poet, publisher, and love enthusiast), created Love: Possible© with the intent to help save my sisters from the unnecessary pain that accompanies the acceptance of confusion, dysfunction, and disrespect in our romantic relationships, but not without calling special attention to our most valuable relationship—the one we have with ourselves.

Subsequently, both my book and my website seek to help salvage our realistic expectations and eliminate our unrealistic beliefs. With these words, I aim to transform misconception into certainty, and disillusion into faith, in hopes that you'll each come to recognize who you are, what you are, and what you deserve.
